Terms

The Aether Sigil sells a tool of self-knowledge presented as an artifact worth keeping. A reading is yours once purchased. It does not predict specific future events and is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, or financial advice.

The Aether Sigil is operated by Katie-Christina Dreager-Tougas, in Canada. She is the person you are buying from, and the person responsible for the birth details you give us.

You must be 18 or older to buy a reading or hold an account here. You are welcome to have a reading cast for a child in your care: you buy it, you agree to these terms on their behalf, and the reading is delivered to you. A person under 18 does not get their own account or access to the Familiar, the companion you can talk to.

Agreeing to this

When you buy a reading, make an account, or use any part of this site, you are agreeing to what is written on this page. If any of it does not sit right with you, the answer is simple: do not buy, and do not use the site. These terms cover the whole of The Aether Sigil: the site, the reading, the Familiar, and Orbit, where the people close to you can be added to your account and read alongside you.

What you are buying

One purchase buys one Full Sigil: a reading computed from your birth details and written out as a codex, a long document you open and read in your browser. It costs $42 USD or $55.55 CAD. You pay once. There is nothing further to pay for that reading, ever.

To compute it we need three things: your birth date, your birth time, and your birth place. The reading is only as good as those three, so give them as exactly as you can. A birth time that is out by an hour gives you a different reading, and we have no way of knowing it was wrong.

We send your reading to the email address you give us, as a link. We aim to have it with you inside 24 hours. Refunds, including what happens if it does not arrive, have their own section further down this page.

Two other things live here, and both are optional: the Familiar, and Orbit. Neither one comes with the price of a reading; each is bought on its own, at the price shown when you buy it. Both are covered by these terms when you use them.

What a reading is not

A reading is a tool for knowing yourself better. It is not a prediction service. It does not tell you what is going to happen, what you should do, or who you should trust, and nothing in it is a forecast of your future. We do not sell certainty, and you should not read it as though we did.

It is also not advice from a professional. Nothing here, in the reading or from the Familiar, is medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice, and none of it stands in for a doctor, a therapist, a lawyer, or an accountant. If you are unwell, frightened, or in crisis, please go to someone qualified to help you. If it is urgent, contact your local emergency services. A reading is not a substitute for that, and we would rather lose the sale than have you treat it as one.

What you decide after reading yours is yours to decide, and yours to own.

Paying

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to them, not to us: this site never sees them and never stores them. What we keep is the record that you paid, so we know to cast your reading. Prices are shown in US or Canadian dollars, and your own bank may add a conversion or a fee on top, which is between you and them.

Your account

Your account is yours to look after. Keep your login details to yourself, use a password you do not use anywhere else, and write to knowthyself@thesigil.app if you think someone else has got into it. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.

One person, one account. You are welcome to show your reading to anyone you like, or send it to them. What you should not do is share your login, or let another person use your account as though it were theirs.

How to use the site

Use it as it is meant to be used, and leave it working for everybody else. That means: do not try to reach accounts, systems, or readings that are not yours; do not scrape or copy the site or resell what is on it; do not point automated tools at it or flood it with requests; do not take the product apart to rebuild the engine behind it; and do not use any part of it to harass a person or to break the law.

If you do any of that, we can close your account.

Orbit, and other people

Orbit is where the people you care about join your account, so each chart can be computed against the others. That means holding someone else’s birth details, so one rule sits above the rest: only add a person if they have said yes, or if you are the parent or guardian of a child in your care. Their birth details belong to them, not to you, and it is on you to have asked.

What you write in Orbit stays yours: the names you give people, the notes you keep, the invitations you send. You are responsible for it, both for having the right to enter it and for what it says. Keep it civil and keep it honest. Do not use an invitation to reach somebody who has asked you to leave them alone.

To run the feature at all we need your permission to store what you enter, compute readings from it, and show it back to you and to the people you have connected. Entering it gives us that permission, for that purpose and no other. We do not sell it and we do not use it for anything else. We can remove a note, a connection, or an account if what is happening in Orbit is abusive, dishonest, or unlawful.

What belongs to whom

Your reading is yours. Read it, keep it, print it, save the PDF, show it to whoever you want, quote it back to us, and keep it for good. We do not take it away, and we do not put limits on what you do with your own copy in your own life.

What stays ours is everything that made it: the engine that computes the chart, the traditions as we have assembled and weighed them, the written frameworks the interpretation is built on, the archetypes, the artwork, this site, and the name. You are buying the reading, not the machine that wrote it. So please do not resell readings, sell the artwork, or use any of this to run a service of your own.

What we can promise, and what we cannot

We promise to compute your reading carefully from what you gave us, and to deliver it. We cannot promise that it will feel true to you, that it will be useful, that it will change anything, or that you will agree with a line of it. A reading is an interpretation. It is not a measurement, and it is not a statement of fact about your life.

The site is offered as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available, that every link will work forever, or that nothing in it is mistaken. We fix what we find. If something is wrong with yours, write to us and we will make it right.

The limit of what we owe you

If something goes wrong and we are at fault, the most we will ever owe you is the amount you paid us for the reading in question. That is the ceiling, whatever the claim and however it is argued.

We are not responsible for what follows downstream: for a decision you made after reading yours, for money made or lost, for a relationship, a job, or a door you walked through or did not. We are not responsible for what other people do in Orbit. We are not responsible for the parts we do not run, like your email provider or your bank.

Some things a business is simply not allowed to limit, and we are not trying to. Nothing on this page takes away a right you have under the consumer law where you live. Where that law gives you more than we have written here, the law wins.

Closing an account

You can leave whenever you like. Ask us to close your account and we will, and you can ask us to delete your stored birth details at the same time, at the address in the privacy section below.

We can close an account too: if these terms are being broken, if a payment is reversed, or if somebody is being harmed. If we close yours and you have paid for a reading we never delivered, we refund it.

When an account closes, a reading already delivered to you stays yours. Anything held only on the site can go with the account, so if your reading matters to you, save the PDF.

When these terms change

This page will change as the product grows. The version that governs your purchase is the one that was on the page the day you bought it. If a change is significant we will say so on the site rather than quietly rewriting it, and using the site after a change means you accept the new version from then on.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of the Province of Ontario and the law of Canada that applies there, and any dispute that has to go before a court goes to the courts of Ontario. If you live somewhere else, that does not strip you of the protections your own consumer law gives you.

If one part of this page turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of it still stands.
